There is no place for the holidays like… Starbucks?

South Florida does not have the same holiday “feel” that one may find in a huge (snowy) city like Manhattan.  Walking through the bustling island in the middle of December is a surreal experience; with its’ world renown window displays, smells of delicious foods from street vendors, hundreds of people taking pictures in their newly purchased holiday outfits, famously well-lit Rockefeller center, and even the guy making a romantic proposal in the middle of the ice rink, make the city a wonderful place.  Florida just can not compete, but one thing they do have in common to bring about the holiday spirit, is Starbucks.

Despite not being a big fan of coffee, I really enjoy visiting Starbucks in the middle of December.  There are not many stores that I can walk into, pause, close my eyes, take a deep breath, and say “boy it smells like Christmas (or whichever holiday you celebrate) and I love it.”  The bright red displays showing their holiday specialty drinks like Gingerbread and Eggnog lattes, and well placed gifts with bright red ribbons provide such a welcoming environment.  Throw in the fact that they usually also have a very good holiday playlist, and very friendly associates who help make buying a coffee an interesting experience rather than just a caffeine fix.

Starbucks does a great job of creating a warm environment for its’ customers, especially during these festive seasons.  I am comforted knowing that even in 80 degree weather in Florida with no window displays, and bustling pedestrian walkways, I can go visit Starbucks anytime to appreciate the holidays.
